DƐmƐnso Birthing and Beyond

I can’t trace my doula journey to a single moment — it feels more like I was gently called to it. Perhaps it began with the prayers of my grandmother, or with my mother’s constant duas for her children to do good in this world.

My curiosity about birth and maternal health first took root when I learned about my mother’s own experiences. Years of carrying gallons of water back home in Mali left her with a lasting back injury — one that shaped her pregnancies and births in ways she never anticipated. Her story lit a spark in me, and my path through public health and epidemiology only deepened that passion.

In 2023, that seed blossomed into a clear calling. On August 17, 2023, at 10:50 p.m., I wrote to a friend: “I’m going to become a doula — that’ll be my passion project.” Soon after, I began my Mama Glow doula training, stepping fully into the work I now know was always meant for me.

For me, this is more than a profession — it’s a continuation of prayer, love, and legacy. I am here to support families with compassion, knowledge, and presence, walking alongside them through one of life’s most transformative journeys.
